Iconic photographer in Amsterdam
Hiroshi Sugimoto takes an abstract approach to photography, leading the viewer to reconsider the relationship between the image and the viewer’s perception of reality. His seascapes have been compared to Mark Rothko’s paintings, whose work Sugimoto has been exhibited alongside in London and New York. His large-scale works make use of atmospheric natural light and are often described as appearing more like paintings than photographs.
