Elsenhove Play Farm

The farm welcomes young and old to come and meet its many animal residents, which include sheep, cows, chickens, ducks and rare breeds. If you're lucky you might witness the birth of a lamb or calf, or see a chicken or duck with its new family of chicks. Visitors can learn all about different types of chicken eggs, learn about what makes Amstelveen peat so special, or even help to feed the animals (feeding takes place at 4pm each day). There's also a play garden and a beautiful terrace where visitors can relax with a drink or an ice cream.

Rare breeds

As well as the more familiar farmyard animals, the biodiverse Speelboerderij Elsenhove is home to many rare, old Dutch species. Dutch belted cows, North-Holland blue hens, Veluwe moorland sheep, curved-bill ducks and Dutch spotted goats are amongst the rare breeds you can meet at the farm - and there's even a special search map to help you go and find them. Speelboerderij Elsenhove (Elsenhove Play Farm) is situated in the Elsenhove recreational area, on the edge of Amstelveen between Oranjebaan, the A9 and river Amstel.
