There are a number of public holidays in the Netherlands. On these days the shops, museums and attractions often close earlier, and some stay closed the whole day.
Schools, city councils, post offices and banks are closed the whole day. Queen´s Day on 30 April is a big celebration in Amsterdam. Sinterklaas on 5 December is also a typical feast day when everyone celebrates at home.
