Amsterdam for the adventurous

IShare Cup Amsterdam

Amsterdam might not be the first destination you think of for your action adventure holiday, so you might be surprised at all it has to offer. Race-car driving, indoor karting, skiing, kite-surfing and climbing are all possible during an action-packed trip to Amsterdam. Great activities for your bachelor party too!

Ups and Downs in Amsterdam

SnowPlanet Amsterdam

The Netherlands is famous for being a flat country so it might sound a bit odd to go skiing or snowboarding in Amsterdam. Even more, to do so in summer – but SnowPlanet is open year-round for some winter-themed fun. They hire out equipment and offer courses too, so there’s not much to stop you hurtling down a slope whenever the fancy takes you! For those who prefer climbing upwards rather than sliding downwards, the climbing wall near Centraal Station is a must!

Need for Speed in Amsterdam

Race Planet Amsterdam

What better way to get your motor running than at the racetrack? Anyone from 8 years up can drive a go-kart at Race Planet. For the bigger boys and girls how about driving a Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche or a formula racing car at the world famous Zandvoort Circuit Park – also through Race Planet. Or why not try out a truly unique Carver One experience – these aerodynamic three-wheelers look like cars but handle like aeroplanes or motorbikes, especially in the corners!

Wind-powered Amsterdam Action

Beach of IJmuiden

If you like that windswept look, then you have to try kitesurfing, flyboarding or racing along the sand in kite-buggy’s. IJmuiden aan Zee - an easy 35 minute journey from Amsterdam – has plenty of schools and places hiring out equipment and long stretches of quiet, white beaches to whizz along. Definitely an experience guaranteed to blow you away! For windsurfers, Surfcenter IJburg is only 15 minutes from Amsterdam’s Centraal Station on Tram 26. They hire out all the equipment you need and provide instruction too.

Get Rolling in Amsterdam

Skate tour in Amsterdam North

Skating enthusiasts should not miss Friday Night Skate. Held every Friday throughout the year (as long as the streets are dry), skaters get rolling from the Vondelpark on a tour of about 20 kilometers through Amsterdam. Anyone can join in and it’s free of charge but you must be a skilled skater. Those who get their kicks skateboarding will be pretty pleased with the Skatepark in Amsterdam-Noord (Northern district) – a bonus is that you get to take the free GVB ferry from behind Centraal Station to get there.

Amsterdam has plenty to offer thrill-seekers – get your adrenaline pumping with an adventure experience!
