Affordable and charming campsites

From within, Amsterdam may feel like a dense urban experience, but thanks to its comparatively small footprint, visitors are never that far from open green spaces, rivers and lakes. With that in mind, campsites are an affordable alternative to hotels and youth hostels, yet still mean you can be in the heart of the city in as little as 10 to 15 minutes via public transport. The region’s campsites are also typically charming and sociable, showing off both the best of urban and rural experiences while making for a great meeting place for travellers, families and groups from all over the world.

High quality sites and services

Wild camping is forbidden in the Netherlands, so it’s certainly inadvisable to pitch up around any park, beach or a seemingly empty piece of farmland. However, this rule not only helps to preserve the natural landscape, it means there is a surplus of dedicated sites for tents, caravans and campervans – all providing modern hygiene facilities, electricity, good transport connections, and also often offering a variety of extra services, such as chalets, bike hire, laundry, lockers, restaurants, shops or canoe hire.

Camping season

In general, it's possible to camp in Amsterdam from mid-March through the end of October, with the peak season being July and August. Smaller sites may also require reservations at peak times. Browse through the listings below or have a look at the Amsterdam camping flyer for specific information about each of the campsites in and near the city. Whether you desire some rural intimacy, family activities or on-site live music and parties, there’s something for everyone.
