Erasmus Student Network VU

ESN VU is the main international student association for the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) – and it is part of the biggest student association group in Europe. The goal of the association is to help students adapt to Amsterdam life by organising fun social and cultural activities and by giving students the chance to meet new people, including other international students and Dutch locals. Some of the activities on offer include group drinks, ice-skating trips and city trips.

International Student Network Amsterdam, UvA / HvA

ISN Amsterdam is a student-run organisation that provides support for international students who are studying at the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) and Hogeschool van Amsterdam. ISN is part of the Erasmus Student Network, and it aims make the transition to Amsterdam life as simple, smooth and enjoyable as possible. Activities include daytrips, culture nights, end-of-exam parties and more.

Pick-up days with ESN VU and ISN

When international students first arrive in Amsterdam, ISN Amsterdam and ESN VU come together to provide pick-up days for the students. During this two-day period, shuttle buses are organised to and from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. After arriving in the city, the students are helped with all the necessary administration tasks that come with moving to Amsterdam: getting their student ID card, getting the keys for their accommodation and registering in Amsterdam.

ASVA Student Union

ASVA – the largest student association in Amsterdam – has made it its mission to give international students the information and tips they need to make it in the city: how to use city transport, the best ways to find accommodation and more.  They even sell cheap, high-quality bikes that don’t fall apart after the first use!

AEGEE

AEGGEE-Amsterdam is one of the city’s largest student organisations. This association is all about bringing students together to make friends, have fun and get the most out of Amsterdam. The association is a particularly great way to make some local Dutch friends. AEGEE hosts fun-filled activities such as bar parties, barbeques and a group Christmas dinner.

Marketing Association Amsterdam

MAA connects students, faculties and companies who have a shared interest in all things marketing. The focus is to help students transition from their student lives and apply their skills to a career that suits them. The association organises a range of events that aim to inspire, advise and train the marketers of the future.

Aureus

Aureus is the student association for the faculty of economics and business administration at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). It is one of the most active student associations in the Netherlands, with over 4,000 members. It aims to provide students with an extra push to make it in the business world, offering training schemes, business networking and more.

STORM

STORM is the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) student association for the school’s science and mathematics departments. The association boasts a homely atmosphere for students, hosting fun activities and social drinks in their common room. They also sell course books at a discounted price and archive past exam papers, which are valuable resources for new students who are trying to save some cash or get ahead of the curve.
