The winning images from the world's largest and most prestigious annual press photography contest begin their world tour in Amsterdam.
A year in pictures
World Press Photo aims to support professional press photography on an international scale. Each year, professional press photographers, photo agencies, newspapers and magazines from all over the world are invited to submit their best news-related pictures from the previous year.
Award-winning images
The best images of the previous 12 months are assembled into a travelling exhibition of over 200 images, creating an overview of how press photographers tackle their work around the globe and how the press relates the news through images.
Worldly events
A reflection of trends and developments in photojournalism, it not only presents the (at times gruesome) reality of events on the world stage, but also the beauty of life, sports, art, science and nature. The exhibition traditionally begins at Amsterdam's Oude Kerk before travelling to more than forty countries, welcoming in excess of two million visitors annually.
I amsterdam City Card holders can visit the exhibition for 3 euros instead of the standard 8 euros.
