On Saturday 3 September, the wild child of Amsterdam's summer festival programme comes to the NDSM-Wharf in Amsterdam Noord. With a heavyweight line-up of DJs playing dance, electro and thumping house to dubstep, hip-hop and punk, Valtifest caters to all tastes.
There's as much for the eyes as for there is for the ears at Valtifest, as each year, the festival has a different dress code theme, and almost all festivalgoers take this very seriously. This year, the theme is 'All in the Family'. Confused? A wide range of possible interpretations is encouraged: think Sisters of Mercy, Daddy Cool, Meeting of the Partridge and the Manson families...
As always, going on besides the main DJs you'll find sideshows and performance artists. Take a time out from the dancing and check out the bizarreness. Also celebrate local fashion as each year a select few fashion labels strut their stuff down the catwalk.
The music at Valtifest is as eclectic as the dress code and anything goes on the day. Don't be shy, let your imagination run riot and get properly stuck in to the Valtifest spirit.
And be warned: Valtifest tickets tend to sell out fast so you'll have to be quick to make sure you don't miss out on the action!
