Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum showcases a fantastic selection of seventeenth and eighteenth prints and sketches of tulips in an exhibition that runs from 2 March to 1 June.
The tremendous tulip
All the works featured in Tulips in Amsterdam are drawn from the museum's own collection. The exhibition includes tulips in every imaginable setting, but also as inspiration for a silver ornament and allegorical scenes.
Tulip book
The highlight of the exhibition is Jacob Marrel's tulip book, compiled between 1637 and 1639. Complete tulip books are extremely rare and the Marrel example is seldom put on public display.
