Tricks is a disarming and light coming-of-age-story that paintes a warm picture of life in the Polish countryside, seen through the eyes of the six-year-old boy Stefek. He lives with his mother and older sister in a village near Wrowclaw. The father has abandoned the family. Stefek observes the world and sets out to look for his father. Sister Elka is trying to get ahead by studying Italian.
All roles are performed by non-professional actors. In Poland the film drew 100,000 visitors in three weeks.
