The Nutcracker and the Mouse King

Photo: Angela Sterling
The Dutch interpretation of the enormously popular fairytale ballet. In contrast to the original E.T.A. Hoffmann story, which is set in a patrician's residence in Germany, Van Schayk and Eagling's Nutcracker and the Mouse King takes place in an Amsterdam canal-side house around 1810.

It is the story of Clara, who is given a nutcracker doll for St. Nicholas by the mysterious Drosselmeijer. She experiences exciting adventures in her dreams.
