Motown Legends
Amsterdam welcomes back two of the bands that helped to define the legendary Motown sound that took the world by storm in the sixties. More than forty years later, both groups are still going strong. Catch them on 2 April, 2010 at the Heineken Music Hall.
The Four Tops
With numerous hits under their belts, including 'Standing in the Shadows of Love', 'Loco in Acapulco', 'Baby I Need Your Loving' and of course '(Reach out) I'll Be There', The Four Tops have been topping the charts for decades.
Enduring quartet
Impressively, there have been no changes to the original line up since the quartet came together in 1954. Their last Top 40 hit came with 'Indestructible' in 1988.
The Temptations
In contrast, the composition of The Temptations regularly changes but this hasn't stopped them becoming one of the most successful acts in history. 'Papa was a Rollin' Stone', 'Treat her like a Lady', 'Since I Lost my Baby' and 'Just my Imagination (Running Away with Me)' are just a few of the group's thirty-seven Top 10 hits.
Comeback kings
After several years of dramatic change which saw the deaths of David Ruffin, Melvin Franklin and Eddie Kendricks, The Temptations launched a comeback in 1998 with the album Phoenix rising. In the same year, NBC launched a mini-series following the life of the legendary band.
