The Cookers play in the tradition of hard bop, the explosive style that originated in the 50s as a response to the then massively popular cool jazz. At the height of the hard bop revolution, The Cookers' album Night of the Cookers was released on Blue Note; and the band have kept hard bop alive and kicking throughout the decades.
