Space Invaders - Art in the Computer Game Environment

A Mirage - Foto: Cao Fei
Space Invaders - Art in the Computer Game Environment brings together art and gaming culture. The group exhibition shows the influence of video games on art and society both in playful and serious ways. Dutch and international media artists examine the increasingly blurring borders between the real world and that of video games.

The physical world migrates to game systems. On the other hand, more and more computer game elements find their way to the 'real world'. By infiltrating user interfaces as well as physical spaces, the artworks illustrate the influence of video games on contemporary culture.

Participating artists: Jeremy Bailey, Aram Bartholl, Mark Essen, Cao Fei, Anita Fontaine, Riley Harmon, JODI, Michael Johansson, Ben Jones, Yuichiro Katsumoto, Walter Langelaar, Ludic Society, Julian Oliver and Ubermorgen.com.
