The new work by Esmé Valk (Netherlands 1977, lives and works in Rotterdam) is the result of a long-term observation of the shop window of Anders dan Anderen, an interior store in Amsterdam Slotervaart. Valk questions the relations between commerce and idealism, between geometry and the body and between audience and performer.
Showcasing Today's Essentials tries to link the shop window with theatre and avant-garde art. In Smart Project Space, Valk shows a short film and an installation with a performance by a dancer/choreographer of Dansmakers, which takes place at set times. Meanwhile, the artist links the shop window of Anders dan Anderen to the exhibition.
