The Americana/alt-country star comes to Amsterdam to present his latest album, the highly-acclaimed Ashes & Fire.
From Whiskeytown to Gold
As part of the band Whiskeytown, Ryan Adams brought the alt-country genre to new heights in the late 90s, and his first solo album Heartbreaker, which features collaborations with Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch and others, continued down that road to much critical acclaim. Follow-up Gold and its single 'New York, New York' marked his international breakthrough.
The Cardinals, 'sci-fi metal' and a return to the roots
After a few more years of solo work, Adams teamed up with band The Cardinals for five albums. A brief flirt with making black metal under the moniker of Werewolph and releasing a 'sci-fi metal concept album' followed. And 2011's Ashes and Fire sees him return to the alt-country styles - fans and critics alike are delighted.
