Reykjavik-Rotterdam

Upcoming Iceland
Producing an average of four films a year, Iceland takes an extremely modest position within the European film production industry. However, Icelandic film has enjoyed a slight rise in popularity in the last decade, even achieving international recognition with titles including Cold Fever and Nói albínói.

A troubled past
Reykjavik-Rotterdam combines two genres currently particularly in vogue with Icelandic film makers: (black) comedy and crime drama. Kristofer has got financial concerns that he's not able to solve with his meagre security guard salary. He used to captain container ships but was thrown into prison after being convicted of smuggling alcohol. However, Kristofer gets the chance to join the crew of a freight ship sailing between Reykjavik and Rotterdam. On the ship he meets some old friends, but not everybody can be trusted.
