Dutch choreographer Nanine Linning is fascinated by human decay and in Requiem, she depicts the field of tension between life and death, the sacred and the profane, the physical and spiritual.
The result is a crossover between visual art and dance. In the first part, the audience walks among sixteen living statues. Face to face with the dancers and away from the red plush of the seats, an intimate atmosphere is created between performers and the audience.
In part two, a choir performs Fauré?s Requiem before a DJ breaks open the sacred music, mixing it into an energetic beat for the forty dancers.
