Rome, mid-August, it is warm, the city is empty, all who have had the chance, has left the city in search relief at the coast. But not the middle-aged Gianni, a role of director Gianni Di Gregorio himself. He lovingly takes care of his aging mother, with whom he shares an apartment. Then along comes his landlord Luigi: asking Gianni to take care of his mother for a day. In return, he will overlook Gianni's outstanding debt. Unexpectedly, Luigi does not only drop of his mother, but also an old aunt. When, to top it off, the family doctor also leaves his mother with Gianni, Gianni finds himself confronted with a house full of elderly ladies, who do not seem to get along. With his cooking skills and a glass of wine he manages to smooth over most of the tension.
