Phosphorescent / Deer Tick / Timber Timbre

Phosphorescent

Phosphorescent

Matthew Houck, the main man behind alt country/indie folk act Phosphorescent, is no stranger to Amsterdam. The band's latest album Here's To Taking It Easy is an upbeat celebration of the rock lifestyle, as opposed to their quieter previous record, 2007's Pride. Fans of Willie Nelson's crazy days will also enjoy Phosphorescent's 2009 tribute/covers record To Willie.

Deer Tick

Songwriter folk from Providence, Rhode Island. The band with a rotating line-up around singer-songwriter and guitarist John McCauley have an excellent live reputation - now's the time to check them out.

Timber Timbre

Folk rock from Canada. Like Deer Tick, this band has only one core member - Taylor Kirk. Romantically, the band name derives from the wooden cabin in which Kirk once recorded some songs. You can't really get more folk-rocky (or Canadian, for that matter) than that.
