Pauline Wiertz

Pauline Wiertz
Pauline Wiertz (1955, Amsterdam) is well-known for her work with natural products including chicken legs, crabs and shells, but she also experiments with bags.

Creative process
Wiertz uses moulds of natural goods to cast porcelain and stoneware, taking extra care to retain the most minute details and textural elements. She uses these casts to create surprising and surrealistic combinations and still life works. Further work in this field resulted in experimentation with bags, which ultimately led to this exhibition at the Museum of Bags and Purses. Wiertz's work is on display from 4 March to 2 May 2010.
