A Shimmer of Possibility showcases a selection of work published in twelve parts by Paul Graham under the eponymous title. The exhibition runs in Amsterdam's Foam Photography Museum from 2 April to 16 June, 2010.
Fascinatingly normal
Each inventively simple series comprises a various number of images, ranging from one to ten. This series of photos provides an animated insight into snapshots of the lives of people Graham encountered on his travels. For example, a man mowing the lawn or someone waiting at the bus stop. His photographs transcend the fundamental subjects and examine aspects of daily life that are illuminated by the photograph.
Taking centre stage
A Shimmer of Possibility calls attention to the short, endless intervals in life. In Graham's words: 'Instead of standing on the banks of a river to collect water, perhaps you're better off standing directly in the current. Only then can you see how the water approaches you, how it flows around you and how it reunites as a single flow, as if you were never there'.
