Palais Paradiso

Palais Paradiso, Dennis Verbeke, Pony Performance

The annual art event in Amsterdam's Paradiso brings a visual arts programme featuring interactive installations, live performances by artists, fashion performances, dance, video projections and music to the pop venue.

The Talent Show

This year's edition of Paleis Paradiso is titled 'The Talent Show', a tongue-in-cheek reference to the abundance of casting shows in contemporary popular culture. Not to be taken too literally, the theme nevertheless calls on the participating artists to showcase their best tricks, while encouraging them to go as multidisciplinary as they can.

Gertrude Stein and My Little Pony

Participants include the Nederlands Dans Theater 2, which will perform the piece 'Shutters Shut', a special dance in which the dancers invent and perform their own sign language to recite Gertrude Stein's poem 'If I Told Him' to a choreography by Paul Lightfoot and Sol Leon. Artist Dennis Verbeke will perform his 'Pony Performance' (pictured), in which he combs the hair of his entire My Little Pony collection (210 pieces); and photographer Uta Eisenreich creates beautiful still lifes from various objects, connecting these objects to sounds.
