News from the Front: Asko Chamber Choir - Without a Reason

The Asko Chamber Choir presents brand new sounds of vocal beauty in Amsterdam's oldest concert hall.

Renewing sounds

The concert series News from the Front, held in Amsterdam's oldest concert hall at Felix Meritis, presents music that was seen as innovative in its time - be that the 17th or the 21st century. For its contribution, however, the Asko Chamber Choir has decided to go for the newest of the new.

Three new commissions

The Asko choir is famous for its fervour and imagination in opening new perspectives for contemporary choral music. For the programme Without a Reason, the choir has commissioned three new works by the composers Richard Ayres, Fabio Nieder and Arnold Marinissen respectively. Highlights from the existing contemporary repertoire, including 'Die Rose' by Willem Boogman and 'Passage Innocent' by Charlotte Seither, will also be performed.
