Luisa Palicio

The bata de cola, a specialty of flamenco dancers, found a new star in Luisa Palicio (1984). The way she manipulates the train of her dress, or makes it swirl with a single foot movement, is not just skillful, but exciting and thrilling. Moreover, Palicio artfully waves and swings her shawl (Manton). It lends her performance, in the graceful Sevillian style, a lot of vigour. In 2006 she was lauded as Artista Revelación at the Biennial of Seville, the flamenco festival of our time. This student of, among others, Milagros Mengíbar, Rafael Campallo and Manolo Soler visits the Netherlands for the first time, with a flamenco quartet.
