Jamie T brings his prize-winning fusion of Cockney rap and indie post-punk revival to Amsterdam's Melkweg.
Award winning newcomer
Beating established names such as Jarvis Cocker and Thom Yorke to the title of 2007 Shockwave NME Awards Best Solo Artist doesn't just happen by chance. A born Londoner, Jamie Alexander Treays won the award while still in his the early twenties and numerous accolades followed confirming his status as one of the hottest newcomers of the year.
Genre hopper
Jamie T's lyrical genius is equalled by a musical vision that allows him to cross between genres with frightening ease. While his voice may draw comparisons with Eminem or Mike Skinner (of the Streets fame) in one song, a likeness to Alex Turner or Pete Doherty is more applicable in the next. Canvas magazine described him as 'the bastard lovechild of Billy Bragg and Mike Skinner doing his best Joe Strummer impression'.
Fighting fit
Jamie T was forced to cancel his Australian and European tours a couple of months ago due to a bout of laryngitis but, contrary to earlier announcements, his performance in the Melkweg has now been confirmed.
Jamie T's second studio album King and Queens was released earlier this year.
