Fritz Behrendt was born in 1925 in Berlin. He and his family fled to the Netherlands in 1937. His drawings were political from the start. Near the end of the war, he got arrested for his work with the resistance. After the war, he build a sizeable career as a political cartoonist for serveral newspapers.
