Don Quichot

Don Quichot, a ballet that's part of the repertoire of prestigious companies such as the Bolshoi Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre, is a stunning show full of joie de vivre, virtuosity and Spanish temperament. The astonishing jumps and dizzying pirouettes that are regular parts of the choreography offer the dancers the best opportunities to showcase their technical abilities. At the same time, the funny story that's inspired by Cervantes' masterpiece brings out their acting talents.

This is the first time that a complete production of the ballet is being performed in Holland. Choreographer Alexei Ratmansky, the former director of the Bolshoi Ballet, has taken inspiration from the libretto of the first Don Quichot version from 1869 by Marius Petipa, but he's also added new elements and choreographies to the ballet. The setting takes the viewer back to Cervantes' times. It has been conceived by the famous French designer Jérôme Kaplan.
