Doktor Faustus

Numerous artists have combined their talents to colour the walls of Amsterdam's W139 with characters from Thomas Mann's Doctor Faustus.
Faustus
Doctor Faustus is often viewed as a treatise of how art and the artist gained independence, emancipated from religious and collective coherence.

Dreams come true
The exhibition represents the culmination of a number of long-standing wishes of W139's curator - to transform the entire building into a work of art, to bring together artists in a large-scale project and to help rid the artistic world of the curious fear of illustration.
