Amsterdam's Musiekgebouw aan 't IJ presents the Charlie Chaplin classic City Lights with live music performed by the Brabant Orchestra.
Classic Chaplin
The film tells the tale of a touching romance between a homeless man and a blind flower seller, the latter mistakenly believing that the former is a millionaire. It's classic Chaplin, complete with trademark derby and bamboo walking stick.
The Brabant Orchestra
Chaplin wrote the music to City Lights and it's a score that raises the film from being decent to classic status. The Brabant Orchestra add an extra dimension to proceedings with their live performance and help transform this silent film into a bombastic night out.
