The Calefax Reed Quintet has developed into one of the most respected ensembles in the country during the last 25 years, boasting a unique composition of reed instruments and a diverse repertoire.
An evening of premieres
The quintet frequently perform arrangements but in this concert, they will also be performing a number of especailly composed for them. There'll be the world premiere of works by Klas Torstensson and Yannis Kyriakides, the Dutch premiere of work by Carola Bauckholt as well as works by Hans Abrahamsen, Solage and Ron Ford.
Composition
The Calefax Reed Quintet is comprised of oboist Oliver Boekhoorn, clarinettist Ivar Berix, saxophonist Raaf Hekkema, bassoonist Alban Wesly and Jelte Althuis on the clarinet and basset horn.
