Featuring a unique collection of over 200 authentic human specimens including whole-body plastinates, organs and translucent body slices, Body Worlds & The Story of the Heart highlights cardiology and the heart. While not recommended for the faint at heart, it's unmissable for those curious to see the wonders of human anatomy up close.
The first functioning organ to develop in the human embryo takes centre stage in the exhibition. The most hardworking organ of all, the four-chambered muscle that nourishes, regulates and sustains life is viewed through the lens of anatomy, cardiology and psychology. Viewed as the seat of emotions, the heart is also considered in the context of history, culture and the humanities.
Over 34 million people have already visited this fascinating exhibition worldwide. Body Worlds & The Story of the Heart can be seen in EXPO Zuidas in Amsterdam until 17 June 2012. EXPO Zuidas Amsterdam is located in building SOM1, Gustav Mahlerlaan 24, a short walk from Amsterdam Zuid Station.
