Average White Band


Not from Chicago or Mo-town, not from New Orleans or Brooklyn, Average White Band were an R&B and funk band from Scotland that made their mark on the world stage in the 70s.

Formed in 1971 they're break out performances came with the support slot to Eric Clapton during a come-back tour of 1973. Their album AWB to which hit 'Pick Up The Pieces' is cut from - the song's bassline is one of the most recognised in funk music. Candy Dulfer recorded a cover of it on her 1993 album Sax-a-Go-Go.

Of the original line-up only Alan Gorrie remains, their last studio album was released in 2003 called Living In Colour/ The band play Paradiso Friday 4 September
