Amsterdam beach has a beach club and surfers’ meeting point in one: Zandvoort’s Sandy Hill has a long history of seaside hangin’ and is still going strong.

Surf pioneers

Founded in 1966 (though there was a beach bar on this spot even earlier), Sandy Hill’s story has always been intricately intertwined with the local surf scene. In fact, when its founder brought back a surfboard from a Californian vacation, he became Zandvoort’s first surfer! Today, (kite-) surfers can still use the club’s lockers to store their equipment before settling on the daybeds on the deck for food and some drinks.
