The Tramway Museum (Elektrische Museumtramlijn) of Amsterdam revives the past with a unique collection of historic trams. The trams are restored to full working order, and you can even ride in them. You can also look in the depot to see ongoing restoration work on several historic trams.
Time-travel
Travel back in time on a historic tram-ride. The trams travel along the former Haarlemmermeer railway line along the edge of Amsterdam’s forest. There are several tram stops along the 7 kilometre track, where several attractions can be visited by foot. The trams run every Sunday from Easter to the last Sunday in October between 11h00 and 17h30.
Collection
The Tramway Museum of Amsterdam has trams from different cities al over Europe, including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Groningen, Utrecht, Vienna, Graz and Prague. The trams were built between approximately 1910 and 1960. The guards, drivers, traffic controllers, permanent-way members, shop personnel, restoration specialists and maintenance specialists are all volunteers – definitely tram enthusiasts.
Museumtramline 20
On Sundays in July and August, Museumtramline number 20 runs through the city. Departure: Prins Hendrikkade opposite to Central Station, in front of the Victoria Hotel.
