Teylers Museum

Spaarne 16
2011 CH HAARLEM
Neighbourhood: Netherlands

The museum has been named after Pieter Teyler van der Hulst (1702- 1778), a wealthy linen and silk manufacturer. As a representative of the Enlightenment movement, he was much interested in the arts and sciences. He compiled collections in both fields in the belief that knowledge could enrich human kind. His last will provided that his property should be contributed to a foundation, whose objectives include the promotion of the arts and sciences.
