Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (SMBA) is a project space of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and is located in Amsterdam’s city centre. The objective of SMBA is to present contemporary art from an Amsterdam perspective and to create an international context for it by organizing exhibitions, lectures, debates, publications and residency programmes.
Exhibitions
The SMBA presents an average of six exhibitions a year in its project space located in the Rozenstraat. Apart from exhibitions, this space is also regularly suited for lectures, debates and (book) presentations. In addition to the home base there are other projects initiated by SMBA scattered around the city at various locations.
Curator Programme
The SMBA organizes an annual international visiting programme for curators called 'Close Connections', which brings international curators together with cultural producers active in Amsterdam. A series of other lectures, projects and initiatives are regularly arranged by the SMBA.
