Muiderslot castle

Enchantment awaits.Come and ascend into this imposing fortress with its robust battlements, and discover the might of the castle of Count Floris V, legendary creator of Muiderslot castle. The castle knew its heyday during the Dutch Golden Age thanks to its most famous resident, writer and poet P.C. Hooft. The Golden Age tour will take you through the first-floor residential wings, in the tastefully decorated 'upper house', or Hoge Huys. The gardens, fortifications and the falconry are also well worth a visit.

Since 2006, major sections of the medieval castle have been open to the public. Two new tourist routes, the Tower route and the Knight’s route, will take you through the imposing fort of Count Floris V, legendary creator of Muiderslot castle. For children a quest in English is available for €1. Adults can obtain a museum guide at the museum shop (cost €2.50) with information on the castle's fascinating construction and restoration history.

Muiderslot castle knew its heyday during the Dutch Golden Age thanks to its most famous resident, writer and poet P.C. Hooft. The tastefully decorated rooms and chambers can be found on the first floor, and may only be visited as part of the guided tour (included in the entrance fee, age 6 and over).
