Storm in Amsterdam

People in the affected areas are advised to remain indoors wherever possible and to take extra caution if going outdoors cannot be avoided. The national emergency telephone number 112 should be used in the case of life-threatening situations. If calling to report non-emergencies such as blown-over trees or litter bins, please use the City of Amsterdam central information number: 14 020 (+31 20 624 1111 if not calling from a Dutch network).

The latest weather forecast is available on the KNMI website.

Update: 16:00

Trains north of the Amsterdam to Zandvoort line are no longer running; train services to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Utrecht are as yet unaffected. Travellers are advised to check the Dutch Railways (NS) and Connexxion websites for the latest information.

Storm damage in Amsterdam so far has been limited to minor occurrences such as falling branches, loosening roof tiles and traffic signs being toppled.
