The Ostadetheater is an intimate inner-city theatre presenting shows, exhibitions and special events for everyone living, working or going out in the Pijp area of Amsterdam. The audience, about ten thousand people a year, are drawn from all ages and backgrounds, and the programming places emphasis on multi-cultural diversity, young, promising theatre-groups, youth theatre and visual theatre.
Two festivals are held at the Ostadetheater every year: the RISK festival - five days of visual theatrre - at the end of November and the Babelfestival - intercultural theatre - in March. From September through May there are weekly youth theatre performances on Wednesday or Sunday afternoons, and also on other days during the autumn, Christmas and Spring school holidays.
