The Beurs van Berlage, designed by Berlage, was build in 1903 to be used as a commodity exchange, a function it held far into the eighties. Since then concerts are held in both halls. In the main hall fairs and events are commonly held. The other halls are used for lectures and congresses. The Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dutch Chamber Orchestra hold their rehearsals here. Besides, the venue is often visited by national and international ensembles.
