The NextGen Series (formerly the Copa Amsterdam) is an annual football competition that pits eight of the best under-19 club teams in the world against each other.

The history of the contest dates back to 1934, when the local amateur outfit Blauw-Wit Amsterdam began hosting teams over the Pentecost holiday weekend. Of course, the Copa Amsterdam has evolved a lot over the years – transforming into the NextGen Series in 2016 – but the holiday weekend tradition continues, as does its celebration of young talent. In modern times, however, it’s the youngsters from Ajax playing host in Amsterdam’s Olympic Stadium, with seven other teams from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas joining for short (50 minutes per match), action-packed games.
