Competitive rowing in Amsterdam

In crews of four and eight (plus a coxswain), more than 4,000 males and females, from 15 to 70 years of age, will take to the river in Amsterdam. The course is 8 km long, stretching from the heart of the city centre, where the Amstel is wide and straight, southwards through some narrower, challenging bends, before finally reaching the picturesque town of Ouderkerk. Whether you’re competing, watching from the banks in the city, or following the action from start to finish by biking with the rowers, it’s a remarkable river spectacle.
