An 'emergency' day at the zoo

More than 5000 disabled and chronically ill children take part in a special event at Artis Royal Zoo during the The 18th annual Kinderbeestfeest. The children and their families are picked up by emergency services from hospitals throughout North Holland and Flevoland to enjoy a fun day out in Amsterdam.

Residents may notice flashing lights and sirens from the fire engines, ambulances and police vehicles but need not be concerned. Road users are reminded to be courteous and give way to the emergency vehicles (and wave to the children as they pass by!).
