Refuse collection in Amsterdam

Numerous public holidays are coming up in spring. And of course, the refuse collectors should enjoy a day off too, so some of the dates for the refuse collection (and bulky refuse collection) have been moved for King’s Day (Wednesday 27 April), Ascension Day (Thursday 5 May) and Whit Monday (16 May). Please don’t put your refuse on the street until the next collection date and help keep Amsterdam’s streets clean. If you don’t want to wait, you can also take any household waste to the waste collection points, but you’ll have to do so before or after the holiday as the collection points are closed on Sundays and public holidays.

King’s Day

On various points in the city, there will be large containers in which those that have a flea market stall can throw their unsold items (click here to download a map with their locations). Volunteers will also hand out plastic bags for all those empty food wrappings and plastic cups.
