‘Cashless’ public transport in Amsterdam
The measure is a further step in the GVB’s strategy to phase out cash payments in all public transport in Amsterdam. According to the GVB, the aim is to make transport more secure and simplify payment procedures. Passengers can use their (personal or anonymous) OV chip card to travel, or use a debit or credit card to buy a ticket onboard. There are also various points across town where tickets can still be bought with cash.
