Improving access to the city centre

The City of Amsterdam is working to improve access to the city centre for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. Several measures to improve the traffic flow in the vicinity of Muntplein will be implemented on 2 November 2016.

What will change

The changes include introducing a car-free zone on the Singel between Spui and Heiligeweg, reducing traffic on the Amstel to one-way only and closing Vijzelstraat between Reguliersdwarsstraat and Muntplein to traffic. Taxis and other vehicles will be guided to an alternative route.
