Household refuse

In most neighbourhoods in Oost, bagged refuse can be deposited in the dark green or grey containers which have underground capacity. Residents in IJburg and houseboat residents can deposit their rubbish in wheely bins which are collected once a week from a designated collection location.

In some districts where a temporary solution is required, residents are asked to deposit their bagged household waste in large metal containers. These containers are also emptied once a week.

Bulky refuse

If you are throwing away items that are still in reasonable condition, contact De Lokatie thrift store to check if they are interested in taking the items off your hands. Either email or call (+31) (0)20 463 1115.

Other bulky refuse is collected once a week on designated days. Put items on the pavement on the designated day ensuring the collection services can easily access the refuse. Alternatively, take your bulky refuse to the collection point at Rozenburglaan 1 or Cruquiusweg 90.

Minor chemical waste

Minor chemical waste can also be taken to the collection point at Rozenburglaan 1 or Cruquiusweg 90.

Recycables

A number of neighbourhoods in the Oost district of Amsterdam recently launched a plastic recycling programme. Glass and paper can be deposited for recycling in the dark green or grey containers.
