Below you'll find all you need to know about refuse collection in the Nieuw-West District of Amsterdam.
Bagged refuse can be deposited in the dark blue or grey containers between 07:00 and 21:00. In the Sloten and Southwest Quadrant, bags (maximum 8kg and properly sealed) can be placed on the street for collection before 07:30 on Tuesdays. In districts with a Kliko wheely bin, put the Kliko out before 07:30 on the day of collection. The green bin (for organic and garden waste) and the grey bin (for general waste) are collected on alternate weeks.
Bulky refuse is collected once a week from the pavement collection points. Deposit bulky refuse on the street on the day of collection, where possible in bundles of a maximum of 1 metre long and 40cm wide.
Glass and paper suitable for recycling can be deposited in the dark blue or grey containers. If you are unable to take your recyclables to a container you can arrange for them to be collected by calling 14020 (Monday to Friday, 08:300 to 18:00).

Take your bulky refuse to the collection point at Seineweg 1, Henk Sneevietweg 22 or one of the other designated collection points. Collection points are open Monday to Saturday between 08:00 and 17:00. Alternatively, put bulky refuse out where marked on the pavement before 07:30 on the designated collection day.
The district has erected special bread collection bins. Any stale bread deposited in the containers will be processed to make plant food. Bread that is thrown along the water’s edge to feed the birds can attract rats.
