As of 10 February 2010, companies based in Almere and Haarlemmermeer can now make use of the Expatcenter’s “one-stop-shop” services for their highly skilled migrants.
The mayors of Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Almere and the Haarlemmermeer, along with the Director of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) signed the official covenant at a gathering on 10 February 2010 at the Expatcenter. The addition of the municipalities of Almere and Haarlemmermeer is an important step in the Expatcenter’s role as a regional office serving the needs of international companies in the greater Amsterdam area.
The Expatcenter first opened in June 2008, as a joint initiative of the municipalities of Amsterdam, Amstelveen and the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND), and has proved to be a great success. Over 750 international companies and their expat employees now make use of the center’s streamlined procedures for hiring highly skilled migrants. In 2009, an average of 350 new expats visited the Expatcenter each month to process their paper work. Some 100 expats also contacted the center montlyh for informational requests. At this growing rate, the Expatcenter should be able to help its 10,000th client within 2010.
